The database state is being designed to expand bureaucratic empires and increase the power of government. We should probably be glad of the crudity of execution, undermining as it does very sophisticated approach to manufacturing notional consent and overcoming objections.

Then observe the Q&A after Mr Wills’ speech. Guess which children’s charity had planted someone to grovellingly applaud the effectiveness of the government’s approach to consultation and the excellence of the ContactPoint system? Here’s a hint: it begins with a B.

He complains about lack transparency in discourse, then rigs the Q&A. What does that tell you?
