Our first entry in to the Government Data Map Hack competition is an example from one of our websites that has airport code information for most of the world’s airports.

Take a look at this list of the UK’s top airports, and when you click on the airport names you will see each airport’s location plotted on a Google map.

If you look around the site you will also find maps for every other airport.

I hope that pilots don’t use Google maps:

If you look up Luton and zoom in, the push-pin is a long way from the runway. I don’t think it even marks the threatened runway re-alignment/expansion plan.

Perhaps we’re still in the “cold war” when maps were deliberately distorted to impede missile targeting?
