This cropped up on my jolly desktop today.

Blimey. I’ve often thought Accenture people are extremely clever, ambitious, and earn a great deal of money. I’ve never much wanted to live in the sort of world I think they’d create if left to their own devices (but, I reasoned, that was never going to happen).

Then Ian Watmore took over at eGU (ok, fine so far) then the PM’s delivery Unit, and Katie Davies took over the govrnment IT profession (well yes, so far so good also). Now matey here has the fetid hot potato of the Home Office’s ID plans dropped into his lap.

But he has a reputation as an innovator and Accenture are very cosy with Microsoft (there’s a small prize waiting for anyone who can point to a major Accenture installation that uses open source). I suppose they reckon he emerges unscathed from Accenture’s foray into the NHS (which as a whole has MS UK execs recalculating their bonuses using something called Excel).

So maybe he’ll listen to alternate points of view. Hail Friend, welcome!
