Over at “Blindside” there’s an attempt to map out the difficult questions around ID management. This is in preparation for an event on 9 July when DTI prepares the ground for how to allocate £10m of research budget to people who will work on answers to said tough questions. This might be in terms of
– what are the real problems we’re trying to solve here
– what are the unintended consequences of the wrong solution
– what opportunities might we be mssing
It’s not an attempt to rerun the policy debate on ID Cards and Register (tat’s a perfectly valid but different exercise). It’s a quest for insights that shed light on where we are now, even if these are challenging.
The very able Tom Fuller is trying to pull this together – see the link above. Do have a look and weigh in.
If you don’t know where to start (because so much has been said over several years and it sometimes seems we’re collectively so little the wiser) perhaps you might just answer this:
What, in your view, are the three most important unanswered questions business and society in Britain about ID management in an e-enabled world?
What will happen on 9th of July?
