Not content with having 90million fingerprints in its database, the US visit programme (see here) is now asking visitors (foreigners) to have all ten fingerprints recorded.
According to fcw.com a new requirement
is gradually taking effect at U.S. airports and at land and sea border crossings, with the goal of being fully operational by the end of 2008
and
officials in the Bush administration have said the purpose of scanning more fingers is to increase accuracy and reduce false matches
Though the official line is somewhat scarier…
The transition from collecting two digital fingerprints to collecting 10 fingerprints from international visitors is one of the department’s top priorities because it furthers the department’s ability to keep dangerous people out of the United States, while making legitimate travel more efficient
If someone can think of a WIBBI, I’d be delighted. This is just so far from ideal that my brain can’t cope π

I’ve never had my fingerprints taken. I hope they don’t identify me as a ‘dangerous person’ when I do.
WIBBI we instead visited the many other interesting and beautiful countries the world offers?
WIBBI our American friends instead visited us here (see my letter to the Syracuse Post

base/opinion-3/1193318181174750.xml&coll=1#continue
…needs both halves of the URL)
WIBBI the next time a major corporate client requests us to go to the US we accept graciously but add a Β£1000 premium (ie approx US$10,0000gadzillion) per fingerprint for the insult of being treated like a recidivist and placing our personal biometrics at risk on some dodgy govenment database.
and WIBBI we used videoconferencing instead π
