One of the joys of Idealgov is the sheer Wibbi-factor of new technical developments that promise a better future of e-enabled public services. Mydex is one that didnt exist, so Iain Henderson, Jason Hobday, Alan Mitchell and I had to set it up. It uses two developments IdealGov has tracked with interest since before they were announced: the Microsoft-initiated Information Cards and Higgins backed by IBM, Novell, Google and others.

What Mydex adds to that heady mixture is the construction of live links from the individual’s data store to the large-scale CRM systems of organisations you choose to do business with. So you tell them what you want. Or tell them nothing at all if you prefer. They get good quality data, updated by you with consent. And you’re the expert on how you like to be treated and what your intentions are.

Is that cool? Sounds to me as if it could be pretty helpful in restoring trust in how personal data is managed. Individuals can register for the live pilot here, and organisations can express an interest in taking part here. Oh wow. Was that the first-ever IdealGov commercial? Do I have to stop blogging now before I sell out completely?
