According to a press release, the program run by the Bangladesh Army to provide 80 million people with “biometric voter registration” – using digital photos & fingerprints – is going well.

I resolutely oppose the UK government’s ID project(s) but it would be interesting to know how the costs of the Bangladesh project compare with the ever escalating costs of the UK government’s project(s).

Could this be a new role for our army – when it’s finally allowed home?

Indeed. I gather there isnt much terrorism there so we cant judge whether that suddenly vanishes when the cards are introduced. But presumably crime will, money laundering etc
